A course for adults and teens above 14 regardless of their previous experience
If you are a professionally or a non-professionally engaged
in arts and would like to learn more about the skills and knowledge of
traditional European art, this is the course for you. While learning
to draw and/or paint what you see accurately, your sight, sense of color and
composition will develop, you may learn how to present depth, shade, mix the
exact tone you wish on your pallet and use techniques such as pencil, charcoal,
pen and ink, ink and wash, gouache, home-made egg tempera, watercolors, etc. In
the first part of the course we will draw and paint still life and interior. In
the last four lessons, we will have live model (nude or portrait).
In order to meet individual learning needs,
the exact course curricula will be tailored together with the students at the
beginning of the course. Students of different knowledge, experience and
interests are welcome to this course. Applications to this course will include

Whether you are professionally or non-professionally involved in arts, this course may be a fun and relaxed way to enforce your current knowledge and skills in 2D figure depiction. Learning in a small group will provide you with a lot of personal attention and thanks to special teaching-learning methods we nourish at ASIB you will have a chance to learn having a curricula specially design to meet your personal level, needs and interest.
During the lessons a model (including nude) will be set and you will be encouraged to make sketches, small drawings and paintings in a technique of your choice and expand the knowledge of your visual expression while keeping your own unique handwriting. You will be able to bring nearly any traditional or non traditional drawing and/or painting materials (turpentine, oil paints and sprays excluded) and ask for guidance about how to use techniques, how to draw/paint what you see, how to represent depth, tones, how to play with composition, focus of attention, and much more. Beside acquiring traditional knowledge of figure painting and/or drawing you will also have an opportunity to explore and expand the language of your visual self-expression. A four weeks long mini workshop for everyone, regardless of age, talent or skills
If you long to awaken your creativity and have fun, if you are not even sure whether you know how to be creative or if you wish to use artistic expression to deepen your self-growth, this is a workshop for you. Through using traditional and alternative art materials, this workshop aims at helping you re-create the joy of self expression and and help you liberate yourself from the eventual obstacles which do not allow your creativity to flow. Methods used in this course are related to my doctorate research in art education as well as the process of Marshall B. Rosenberg’s NVC (Nonviolent Communication). If you would like to
improve your visual perception and your drawing skills in an energetic and fun
way, this is a course for you. Through making sketches and small drawings of
live model, still life and the interior, you will be developing your

a great course to acquire basics of drawing as well as tó work on develop a
sense of personal style.

Introduction to
Contemporary Art
A series of lectures and optional personal project work (for adults and teens above 16)
If you feel lost in a modern art gallery and wish to broaden your understanding of arts, if you are planning to apply to an art school next year or if you are an artist and need support and guidance, this is the course for you! At this course you will receive theoretical and optionally practical introduction to contemporary fine art. The aim of the course is to help you acquire the language of contemporary art and support you in becoming independent in enjoying and/or creating works of art.
Through a series of lectures and your active engagement in open discussions, you will start to deepen your way of understanding and thinking about contemporary art, acquire an understanding of the historical changes in art through the 20th century, and receive basic skills on how to relate to art works being made in the last 50 years. If required, on the first lesson you will also receive a project assignment to be worked on at home and finalized in 5 weeks (in case of intensive course by the end of the course) and the second project assignment will follow. Your group-mates and you will receive personal guidance, which will support you in finding your “inspiration spot”, take you through the steps of making your contemporary art piece and assist you in solving practical problems that may occur when working on your project. By making your own art work as well as by witnessing your group-mates’ process and work, you will be integrating the theoretical knowledge of the lectures , deepen your knowledge about what contemporary art is about and hopefully gain more confidence to keep making your own art projects.

The joy of expressing yourself with colors - a 4 week workshop for adults and teens above 14
If you long to awaken your creativity, have fun and try out new techniques this is a workshop for you. Through using traditional and alternative painting materials, this workshop aims at helping you gain some technical knowledge, experience along with the joy of self expression. Methods used in this course are related to Barbara Guttman's doctorate research in art education as well as the process of Marshall B. Rosenberg’s NVC (Nonviolent Communication). Is this Art? (Contemporary Art for Beginners)
a fun theoretical course for adults and teens above 16
Have you always wanted to understand what contemporary art is about? Through a series of interactive lectures and your active engagement in open discussions, you will start to deepen your understanding and thinking about contemporary art and acquire an understanding of the historical changes in art through the 20th century. The course aims to help you aquire confidence and some basic skills to relate to art works being made in the last 50 years.

Whether you would like to explore how to use colors to get in touch with your inner world, or would rather enjoy learning more technical painting skills this is a course for you. Trough fun and playful exercises we will address topics such as color theory, developing sensitivity for mixing tones, using color to present space, volume, light and composition as well as some basics of painting technology. Exercises adopted from the Creative Self-Expression (a workshop offered at ASB- see below) will help you open up creatively, hear, trust and follow the “inner voice” and generally become more confident in using paint to express your feelings and ideas. ( note: Materials for the creative exercises will be provided. Students will be asked to bring their materials and tools for the rest of the lessons.)

this is a course for you. The small group offers the possibility of working
with each student’s existing knowledge and skills, and of tailoring individual

At the beggining of the course we will be drawing after live model, ocasionally nude and as the weather improves, we will have the lessons outdoors, trying to catch some amasing city scapes of Budapest. You will be working in techniques of your choice: pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, ink and wash, etc and receive guidiance and personally tailored curricula. Arteen is a course specially designed for the needs and interests of teenagers aiming to give them a fun introduction into different art techniques. During the bi-weekly lessons on Friday afternoons, students will have a fun experience of trying out different painting and drawing techniques and learning some secrets about how paints are made, how to mix different tones of colors and which techniques can be mixed together. Making exercises with these materials will also help the development of their creativity and artistic sensitivity. Between the lessons students will work on their own personal art project while during the lessons they will receive guidance and consultations for their project. Work on personal art project will help them put in practice the information and experience they received during the lesson.
