Fall Term Schedule is Shaping



The first courses at Art School in Budapest started this week. Due to requests new 10 week courses will also be offered from October. To see list of courses which will be running in ASiB this fall, please see the list below of click here.

NEW COURSES at ASiB

After the two weeks of promotional lessons and the Opening Party, seats for the new courses in painting, drawing, contemporary art, and creative development starting next week are now filling up. You still have time to apply to new 12 and 6 week long courses starting between September 17th and 25th.  Please see a list of courses below. Starting this October, the Art School in Budapest will open its doors to exciting courses in Creative Writing, offered by Ashley Nelson, an American writer and teacher with an M.F.A in Fiction from Columbia University in New York. The courses cater to all types of writers: those eager to write a short story or personal essay but unsure how to get started, those who write often and wish for feedback, and those who want to learn more about the craft elements of fiction and nonfiction and how they work on the page.  This ten-week course, held at the Art School in Budapest and beginning the first week of October, is designed for all levels of writers—beginning, intermediate, and advanced. The classes will be once a week for two hours.    Please note that seats are limited for all courses at the Art School in Budapest. Classes will be filled on a first come first-come, first-serve basis. Your spot in a course will be guaranteed only after you have fully completed the application procedure, which consists of two steps: 1) submitting the filled and signed application form and 2) making your payment. After you have done these two things, your enrollment will be secure.

Ready for an Art Start?

  

     September has always been a month of starts for me, time of the year when  my “solar batteries” are most full and when I am more open for changes and new starts.  With this spirit I am happy to welcome you to the new school year at Art School in Budapest starting this September.

     Here are some new school year appetizers:
  
●  Nine courses  in drawing, painting,  contemporary art and creativity development are starting on September 17, 18 , 19 and 25.  Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Click here for  time table and moreinformation about courses.

Two  new  courses (Creative Drawing and Evening Nude) will be offered on Tuesday evenings

●  Promotional lessons will be offered  between September 3 – 11.  See the promotional lessons schedule below. Registrations are required since the number of participants will be limited at each lesson.  Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Your cotribution of 1500 - 4000 Ft will be appreciated. 

● Opening Party will be on Wednesday, September 12,  19 -23h . Please send an email to let us know  that you and your friend are coming. Please bring fruit , healthy vegetarian snack or drinks to share with everyone.

   August and July are called cucumber season in Hungaraian as beside the obvious peak time for cucumbers most people go to vacation and finishing  administration in the city or simplly having a coffee with a friend who is in the city in the same time as you  can become a chalenge.

Grand Finale Week at ASiB

The 2011-2012 school year at Art School in Budapest is ending with the exciting Grand Finale Week. Come and bring a  friend to the a variety of lectures, art lessons, film, workshops and the Waka-WAKA End of Year Party.

MONDAY, May 28th:

 14 -19h - Drawing Marathon  - join a 2 x 2½ hr drawing lesson where we will be exploring the rules of different types of composition, line quality and its connection to your feelings, representation of space and much more. All levels of drawing skills and experience are welcome. Please bring paper, pencils and/or watercolor brush(es) and ink and/or pen and ink.

 19.30hARTISTS TALK:  Sári Ember, an emerging Hungarian photographer will present her latest works in a 45 minute lecture. (http://www.embersari.hu/)

14 -19h - Painting Marathon
- a 2 x 2½ hr fun painting lesson where you can explore expressing your feelings with colors and learn how to mix colors. All levels of artistic skills and experiences are welcome. Please bring your own paper and any water based (not oil) paint which you would like to work with.

19.30 - 21hSoft skills for hard cases - Basics of Nonviolent Communication  (workshop) by Eva Rambala certified international NVC trainer. In this workshop you may learn how to see the relationship between how you think and how you feel, understand others instead of reacting, connect with your deepest needs, speak in ways that are more likely to be heard by others, negotiate difficult situations with greater ease and confidence, gain hope and skills for nurturing peace in our world. THURSDAY, May 31st:

14 -19 h - FLOW Marathon
- a 2 x 2½ hr long workshop for anyone aged 14 and above regardless of artistic talent and knowledge. While being engaged in using traditional  and alternative art materials you will be encouraged to explore and express your feelings and needs. Awaken your creativity and have fun. Discover how being self-connected can boost your creativity and joy of self-expression. (admission  5000 – 8000 Ft (including materials), max. 8 participants, please apply to secure your place) 

19.30 -21. 30h – NVC Play Room – Come to play an interesting board game with a dice and many cards, designed by Hugo Roele  (Holland) an author and NVC trainer. You can use the game aiming for better understanding of yourself and/or resolving conflicts with others.  A fun way to see nonviolent communication (NVC) in action.

FRIDAY, June 1st:


14-15.30 h –  The Language of Life and Connection - Short Introduction to Nonviolent Communication (workshop)  by Éva Hava Jónai,  certified international NVC trainer 
    In this workshop you may learn how to hear feelings and values even behind hostile language, listen in a way that inspires openness and honesty, say „No!” in a way that encourages communication and consensus or how to welcome anger, and transforming it into life energy.( http://emk.hu/)  (free admission, max. 15 people, please apply to secure your place)

THE CONTEMPORARY ART DAY

16 -17.30 h – „A Door to The Contemporary Art Room” (interactive lecture) by Barbara Guttman DLA. By giving you some basics guidelines and engaging you into a discussion about several works of art created in the last 20 years, this lecture will give you an interesting glimpse into understanding the exciting world of contemporary art.

17.45 - 19 h  “Why Do We Support the Arts” – a heart warming lecture by Jutka Fischer  B.A. dip. A.M., a ceramic artist and art organizer. Using real-life examples, Jutka Fischer will illustrate ways in which engaging with creative activity can change people's lives, both individually and collectively.

Art Walk in May



Walking tour to small conetemporary art galleries in downtown Budapest

   Put on your comfortable shoes and  join us at ART Walk in May - a special ART tour in the downtown of  Budapest.  During these 2,5 -3 h we will  visit  current shows at small, well  established art galleries in districts 5, 6 and 7.
